Halloween, directed by David Gordon Green and starring Jamie Lee Curtis, dominated the box office in 2018, grossing more than $250 million globally, breaking previous records for horror movie opening weekends, and becoming the series' highest-grossing installment. Since 1982's Halloween III: Season of the Witch, the movie held the distinction of being the first in the franchise to directly include its creator, John Carpenter.
The original theme song, which was infamously created on a shoestring budget in 1978, was given a deep and sinister dimension by the 2018 Halloween movie soundtrack, which gained universal acclaim. A Dave Smith OB-6, bowed guitar, Roland Juno, Moog, Roland System 1, Roland System 8, various guitar pedals, mellotron, and piano were among the live instruments used by the trio in addition to a variety of software synths, vintage analogue gear, and other live instruments.
