Gov’t Mule’s self-titled album arrived in 1995 and immediately felt reminiscent of the Allmans, but Gov’t Mule pushed psychedelia into a bluesier direction.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe impact was felt immediately, and it was followed with Gov’t Mule’s \u003ci\u003eLive at Roseland Ballroom\u003c\/i\u003e, an iconic live album. The Mule sound — fueled by whiskey and magic mushrooms — evolved further with 1998’s \u003ci\u003eDose\u003c\/i\u003e, 11 tracks of fierce garage-y feeling blues that appropriately stole a million faces. Gov’t Mule records continued to come, as the band regularly released live volumes, almost a workingman’s approach to the jam scene. Sadly, Woody died tragically in 2000, but the Mule pressed forward, emulating their Allman Brothers heroes, operating as vehicles for musicians to experiment and explore their own directions of modern psychedelic rock. Their fans remained loyal as well, as Gov’t Mule’s later albums — 2013’s \u003ci\u003eShout \u003c\/i\u003eand then 2017’s \u003ci\u003eRevolution Come...Revolution Go \u003c\/i\u003e—hit significant points on the Billboard Charts.
